Cause: Team Upper Midwest Outdoors is fishing to raise awareness for the need to get urban kids outside. All children need un-structured playtime in nature, but for kids from the city, it can be an even greater hurdle to overcome to get them away from the Playstation or X-Box, off the streets, and into the woods and the creeks. Fishing For Life runs a great program to help get inner city kids into the outdoors and hooked on fishing, so a portion of our funds will go to help that program.
We encourage everyone to take kids outdoors when they go fishing, no matter if the kid is from the city center, the suburbs or the rural communities. Help overcome Nature Deficit Disorder!
Team UMO is fishing the 24 Hour Fish-A-Thon to raise money for two great non-profit organizations. Recycled Fish is the national non-profit organization of "anglers living a Llifestyle of Stewardship both on and off the water, because Our Lifestyle Runs Downstream & Fishing For Life is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving youth through various fishing programs. In 2008 we were selected by the National Parks and Recreation Association to serve as one of 30 “ANCHOR AGENCIES” in the U.S. dedicated to promote and engage youth in the fishing and boating activities.
